Second day in Sydney - Darlingharbour and Bondi Beach

Hi there,
Our second day in Sydney started quite late. After some hours of sleep we left the hostel at about 11:30am. We first headed for Chinatown, past the Chinese Garden of Friendship towards Darling Harbour. Because of the Australian summer we totally forgot that it is only 12 days until Christmas and we could not resist to take a picture with these Santa Clauses saying “HO HO HO”.

We had lunch nearby and then walked around this part of the harbour and also walked over the Pyrmont Bridge and through the Harbourside Center. In one of the shops they were selling various things made out of the fur of kangaroos, koalas and crocodiles (e.g. normal stuff like wallets, leather hats but also back-scratchers, lighters and coasters).
Hereafter we walked to the Town Hall which is located at George Street, a very long shopping street with lots of expensive shops.

We did only a short visit to the shops and then turned right towards Hyde Park. A very nice park and very close to the Botanical Garden. At the Southern end you find this War Memorial.

It was 4 pm by now and as we did not know what to visit next we remembered that buses to Bondi Beach depart from here and so we catched the next bus there. Half an hour later we were there:

It was beautiful to walk along the beach and feel the sand and water. It was great! After an hour (as we did not have any swimwear with us) we drove back to our hostel. After some dinner we ended our second day at about 10pm. Tomorrow we go back to the Opera House and hopefully I will meet my cousin who lives in Sydney and who I have not met before, so I am excited to meet her. Maybe she knows some secretly hidden places!
Cheers, yours more-Sydney-and-Bond-Beach-sightseeing Stefanie
