Hervey Bay - Organising, beaching and barbequing

Hey folks,
We arrived in Hervey Bay at 6pm on Wednesday night at the Beach Motel where we booked a budget room which is very comfy and nice for the price we paid (so far our cheapest accommodation per night). We got ourselves some dinner and beer (very expensive!) and awaited the next day where we have only planned to book our Fraser Island tour and spend the rest of the day at the beach.
Well, it took us all morning to plan the next few days because due to the Christmas holiday season we could not book a 2-day-tour as we have planned as everything was booked out :-(
So we opted for a one-day-tour instead. Therefore we had to rearrange the bookings after that. It was nearly 2pm before we could actually lie down at the beach of Hervey Bay. It is a sandy beach with no big waves because the bay is sheltered quite well. The water was not too cold but also not really warm and we saw some huge dead jelly fishes on the beach! This prevented us from swimming too far out although there were lifeguards on duty.
At 4pm we were hungry as we did not have a proper lunch and got something from the supermarket which is half an hour walk away from our motel. So at 5pm we started the barbeque! Our motel has a BBQ area but this is not something special around here as there are FREE BBQs along the street next to the beach. Of course Markus got some vegetables whereas I went for some australian beef! :-) We were so hungry that we totally forgot to take some pictures of our first Aussie BBQ. Sorry folks!
Our next stop: Fraser Island!
Yours BBQ-Stefanie
