Rockhampton - Botanic Garden and Tourist Drive no. 10

Hi there everyone,
On Sunday, the 22nd of December (fourth advent) we drove early in the morning to the free park and zoo of Bundaberg which is not a big or nice zoo. After only 30 minutes we left and got onto the Bruce Highway further North. At about 1:30pm we arrived at the Visitor Information Center of Rockhampton and got some ideas of what to see in the area and went first to the Botanic Garden where there is also a free zoo. This zoo is much bigger than the one in Bundaberg and we saw some cute koalas and other animals.

Then we walked around the Botanic Garden with the big trees, the cactus and the Japanese Garden.

We also saw some of the rare Sulphur Crested Cockatoos who flew freely around.

We checked into the Best Western Cattle City Motel Inn, got changed and headed for the Tourist Drive no. 10 towards Emu Park.

The beach was unfortunately not really nice for swimming. We ate some fish ‘n chips and drove along the coast to two other beaches.

Back in the motel I skyped for the first time since we left Germany about two weeks ago with my mum. Like us she is not really in a Christmas mood yet but for different reasons. Apparently it is too warm for German winter (above 6 degrees Celsius), rainy, no White Christmas in sight and because I am not there for Christmas there is also not the big celebration preparation going on as usual (because it is my birthday on Christmas Eve). Well, what to do than to move on.
Our next stop: the Cooberriepark Wildlife Sanctuary near Yeppon!
Yours touristic Stefanie
