Blue Mountains - Scenic World

Hi there everyone,
On Sunday the 15th (the third advent) we checked out of our hostel on time to be at the Scenic World at 9:30am, just half an hour after opening. There was no big queue at the cashier and so we went straight to the Skywalk. The middle part of this has a glass-floor.

Unfortunately it was cloudy at our ride across the valley but on the other hand it added to the mystery of the Blue Mountains. We walked across the short walks to have some good views into the valley and the waterfall (very low water despite the rain of last night), then we crossed the valley by Skywalk again. This time in clear condition. On the opposite side of the valley across from the Three Sisters is another solitary stone formation. Also known as the Fourth Sister. The attendant on the Skywalk said “This will fall eventually and most likely onto the Railyway… but not today…” Ehm…OK?!

Then we headed directly for that already mentioned Scenic Railway, the steepest railway in the world with the decline of 52°. It was scaringly steep! For some reason our borrowed GoPro ran out of battery although we charged it overnight, so we do not have a video of it :-(. At the bottom we walked to the foot of the waterfall (nothing special really) and then along the Scenic Walk. This is basically a wooden walkway through the rainforest, so you can explore the rainforest very safely without harming nature. And we took some great pictures there as the sun came out.

We took the Scenic Cableway back up to the starting point of the Scenic World which is not as steep and not as funny as the railway. At about 12:30pm we had done all the rides and the main walks of the Scenic World. So we left the Blue Mountains towards Sydney. WHAT? Why towards Sydney? Well, we needed to turn onto the Pacific Motorway to head North to Port Macquairie which is about 400 km North of Sydney. If you want to know why we did this big distance in one go, wait for my next post :-)
Yours rainforest-discovering Stefanie
