Lake Argyle - Surprisingly nice views

Dear lake lovers,
After our rather disappointing visit to Wyndham we decided to stay overnight at Lake Argyle. After securing a spot at the only caravan park we drove to the Dam lookout for the sunset. We had a really nice view and it was surprisingly beautiful for an artificial lake. Lake Argyle is Australia's second largest dam lake.

At the caravan park they have an Infinity Pool which looked absolutely beautiful but due to the late time and the cool temperature of the water we didn't go in. Instead we had a shower, some pasta with chick peas and tuna for dinner and as the FREE Wifi didn't work we planned our next daytrips in more details before we settled for the night at 9:30pm.

The next morning we got up at 5:30am (oh please...) to see the sunrise but this was all we got to see due to the clouds.

So we went back to bed until 8am and after breakfast we parked the car outside the caravan park. Charlotte stayed at the pool while I decided to take advantage of the clouds to go for a walk to another lookout.

After 40 minutes I reached the lookout and had this fantastic view onto the lake. It was definitely worth the walk which was fairly easy (no rock climbing or creek crossing involved!).

This is a picture from the pool and if you look more closely you will be able to spot Charlotte sitting in the chair on the very right :-)

This is one of the pictures that other people at the pool took of Charlotte. Fairly nice, right?

Thanks to the timer function of my camera (there was absolutely nobody else at the lookout) I took this picture. Not as spectacular as Charlotte in the pool but still cool, right? RIGHT?

Anyway, I enjoyed the view at the lookout for another 20 minutes, saw a few helicopters flying by (scenic flights are THE thing to do here) before I went back to meet up with Charlotte again.

We drove to a picnic area on the other side of the dam for lunch.

Shortly after noon Charlotte drove 340km through some nice nature reserves and then I drove the last 140km to the Mathison rest area where we would stay at another free camping spot for the night. On the way we had some cows on the road again.

We had cold pasta for dinner and went to bed very early at 8pm Northern Territory time. As we have crossed the border to the Northern Territory (NT) we lost 90 minutes as NT is 1.5 hours ahead of WA. Don't ask me why they use half hour differences in Australia...
Our next stop: Katherine!
Yours lake-lookout-appreciating Stefanie
