Melbourne - From above, river and evening market

Good morning world,
On Wednesday we left our big luggage at the Miami Hotel Melbourne and walked down Spencer Street to the Yarra River for breakfast, then walked alongside the river in the nice sun with a great view on the Melbourne skyline and saw two black swans which only exist in Australia.

We crossed the river and went straight for the Eureka Tower. This tower has the highest public vantage point, so we hoped for a good view over the city of Melbourne. Well, they did not disappoint us.

After going round and taking 100 pictures we got down again and it was finally warm outside! I changed into short trousers, we put some sunscreen on and made our way to the Town Hall again. Why? Because there was a FREE concert at 1pm at the Great Organ. Another completely free event, this is stunning! And the one-hour concert was great. I think more than half of the seats were taken.

After a small lunch we headed back to the river for a river cruise. We were just in time to hop on the last ferry for the day and did not know that this cruise would not go alongside the CBD but out of the city alongside the Botanical Garden. Honestly, that was a waste of time because there was not much to see and we got off the boat really disappointed. Anyway, we catched the last free city circle to the North of the CBD for the Queen Victoria Night Market as this was supposed to be really good and different from the normal market. And it was! There was more of a festival spirit, different stalls, lots to eat and drink and you were allowed to walk around with an alcoholic drink in your hand. GREAT!

We looked for some nice food and I got myself a soft shell crap burger!

I have to try all those crazy Aussie food but this one did not taste very special but I tried it. We walked around with our drinks in our hand, bought some more souvenirs and then headed back to our hotel (The Great Southern Hotel) at 8pm. Why so early? Because we had to get up early (when will this end???) the next day for our next stop: The Great Ocean Road!
Yours Melbourne-culture-exploring Stefanie
