Sydney airport - In terminals and planes

Greetings everyone,
On Sunday the 5th of January we arrived almost on time at 5:45pm in Sydney with our Jetstar flight. We collected our luggage and headed to the Jetstar Customer Service Desk for more information about our next flight connection to Melbourne. Because the flight we were initially booked on had been cancelled. At the Ayers Rock airport we met another German girl Jenny who had exactly the same problem, so we teamed up and got in Ayers Rock some chocolate for our vouchers.

Well, in Sydney there were another three flights from other airlines scheduled to depart to Melbourne but to our total shock we were not booked onto the next flight but the last one at 10pm!
So we had to wait over three hours at Sydney airport and we would arrive at 11:40pm in Melbourne.

Well, what to do than to walk through the carpark from the Jetstar terminal to the Qantas terminal to check-in our luggage. But our data did not come through until another British woman complained one hour later to Jetstar about the delay of our data and got us all some additional vouchers, so we could get ourselves some small dinner. Finally the data came through and we could check-in and head to the departure gate. Jenny wrote some postcards whereas we used the high-speed Wifi provided by Qantas to connect to the world again as we did not have any FREE Wifi at the Ayers Rock Resort.
At the Qantas flight we had some nice inflight entertainment and FREE drinks which we would not have had with Jetstar. During the flight we found out that the British girl Carly and her sister lived very close to our hotel and so we decided to share a taxi at that late hour. After being used to temperatures of over 30 degrees Celsius during the day and never under 20 degrees Celsius at night we were FREEZING at just 11 degrees Celsius in Melbourne. At 00:40am on Monday we checked into our hotel (Miami Hotel Melbourne) and quickly got to bed.
This day was basically about departing, staying in airport terminals and planes but we got to know some really nice people and that helped immensely to overcome the raising angriness. But in the end we got to Melbourne. So wait for my next entries about how it is like here.
Yours traveling Stefanie
