Melbourne - QVM and free MSO concert with friends

Cheers everyone,

On Saturday morning I woke up at 7:30am to get ready to meet my friends Elina and Karlis! They are from Melbourne but living in Bremen now. As they knew I was here as well while they are visiting their families and friends they invited me to come along with them to some grocery shopping at the Queen Victoria Market. It was really busy there at 9:30am but we managed to get everything of their list by 11am. After that we walked to Hardware Lane for some coffee, cappuccino and Chinotto.

Then we decided to have kind of a second breakfast instead of lunch. As you cannot get hash browns in Germany we needed to find a place who does. After some consideration Elina led us to the Royal Arcade where we had some delicious breakfast at 12:30pm. While Elina chose the healthy muesli option, I got French bread with egg, basil, rocket and mushroom. Karlis got his beloved hash browns on an English muffin with bacon, egg and mayonnaise. How yummy is that!

At 1:30pm they both headed back to Elina’s mother to prepare some food for this evening and the following day. I went back into the hostel and then grocery shopping myself. At 5:30pm we met again at the SidneyMyer Music Bowl as they both have invited me along to a FREE concert that took place there by the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra, sponsored by Emirates and the City of Melbourne (and some more). It was absolutely full! We sat fairly central, so here is our view to both sides across the lawn.

At 7pm the orchestra played some classical and more modern pieces in a mix in the first half and they were fabulous! I really enjoyed the music.

In the second half a new composition about compassion was played and a singer sang in Hebrew and Arabic to it. His voice was amazing and the according instrumental was incredible. It was completely different to what I expected.

At 9:30pm the concert was over but it was not time to say Good-Bye to Elina and Karlis as I would see them again the next day. And I am REALLY looking forward to see them again. I am happy to have such awesome friends!!!

Yours free-concert-viewing Stefanie
